Based Agent Grants Fund
Learn about BAG
Overview
The Based Agent Grants (BAG) Fund is a community grants program by Ringfence, designed to accelerate the growth, security, and utility of the agent economy.
While initially focused on the Virtuals Protocol ecosystem, BAG also exists to support the Base agent ecosystem.
Mission
BAG funds projects, agents, and activations that move the network toward a stronger society of AI agents—especially Virtuals Genesis & Prototype launches filling critical roles, unlocking new capabilities, or occupying valuable niches.
Governance
BAG is seeded and overseen by a five-member Advisory Board:
1 seat held by Ringfence's CEO
4 seats for key ecosystem stakeholders (builders, operators, and investors in the Web3 agent space)
The Advisory Board sets grant criteria, reviews applications, and approves funding to ensure alignment with long-term ecosystem growth.
Board seats will be announced soon, and additional details will be revealed over time.
Funding & Replenishment
BAG is designed as a long-term fund, gradually replenished over time.

Initial Capital: 7% of total $RING supply allocated to BAG
Ecosystem Sponsorships: Funded projects contribute a % of their token supply back into BAG
Media Grants: No-strings-attached funding for creators driving Virtuals adoption
Ongoing Distribution: Applications open year-round; grants awarded based on demand, quality, and alignment with ecosystem goals
Impact
BAG is designed to be self-sustaining, continually replenishing to fund promising ideas and turn them into deployed agents, tools, and infrastructure, strengthening the Virtuals Protocol and broader agent economy.
